Governor's Office|

Today I launched road works, solar lighting and paved walkways in Tala and Kangundo areas of Machakos county. These are part of the many development programs that are ongoing by my Government.
I also inspected the new Intensive Care Unit, the new isolation ward, new pediatric ward and the new oxygen plant, as well as other new works at Kangundo Hospital that will enable provision of quality healthcare to my people.
As we approach the 2022 general elections, I wish to remind all leaders that we have been elected to serve until Election Day. Indeed, our salaries and benefits, paid for by the taxpayers are remitted to us until we cease to hold office.
I, therefore, call upon leaders to work more and talk less, especially at this period when we need to revive the economy so as to create badly needed jobs and make the life of suffering Wananchi tolerable.
Campaigning for office is important and this we will do, but it is vital that we also work and the fruits of our work be seen and felt. Leaders should not give promises of what they will do when they take over but should show us what they have done and what they are doing.
Kenya has many challenges, for example, bad roads and lack of services in many places. We are not where we should be. However, it is action, not empty talk that will get us there.
Realistically, one leader cannot do everything within the time and resources given, but a leader has to show effort and go beyond the call of duty in serving the public.
In the coming weeks, we will unveil more of the projects we have been working on as we make Machakos the Place to Be and to transform it from a place of just dreams to one where dreams can come true.
Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, EGH,
Governor of Machakos & Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Leader.
21st of October, 2021.
