Governor's Office|

I have today chaired the Machakos County Covid-19 Multi-Agency Committee meeting at my Machakos Office.

We have agreed that tough disciplinary measures will be taken against members of the public who will be caught flouting the new containment measures prescribed to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The strict enforcement measures, will be instrumental in slowing down the spiraling cases of new infections and deaths within Machakos and ultimately pull the county from the “red zone” of covid-19 infected regions in the country.

My government will also subject bodies of people who die in the villages to covid-19 tests before providing burial permits to their kin. This is to establish the actual causes of deaths and the need to protect relatives and others from the risk of covid-19 infection.
The multi-agency teams on the ground will also pursue strict enforcement of masks wearing in public and ensure all residents observe the revised regulations as directed by the president.

I encourage all citizens to take personal responsibility, sensitize their families and friends on best practices to take so as to avoid covid-19 infection during this time and I am confident that with the combined effort of my government, local administration under the Machakos County commissioner, Mr. Fred Ndunga and the County Assembly leadership, led by the speaker, Hon. Florence Mwangangi, Machakos County’s worrying covid-19 statistics will make a complete turn around in the shortest time.

Let us all do our part in stopping the covid-19 spread, by masking up and maintaining social distancing. We can do it.
