Meeting Machakos, Kitui & Makueni Professionals to Chart the way forward for the Community
Yesterday, at the Matuu Governor’s County Lodge office, I held an interactive session with professionals drawn from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni to discuss the social and economic development and future of the region.
Due to the Covid-19 preventive measures, I only met a few professional even though thousands wanted to attend. I was happy to see professionals in all areas of Government and industry, some coming from as far as Mandera, Mombasa and Kisumu to be with us. Ahsanteni.
The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed our Kenyan economy’s underbelly and made the poor even poorer. The meeting discussed how the community can lift itself up, using available capital and human resources in the post Covid era.
I explained to the very intelligent and able group, the link between good governance, innovative leadership, integrity and development of our people.
Speaker after speaker urged all of us to work together and to take bold steps to move away from regressive discourse and embrace new leadership styles.
It is a pity that we live in a very rich region and country but our people are still classified as the wretched of the earth. Some of us are ready to reverse this unfortunate state of affairs. It cannot continue to be business as usual.
I thank all who attended and I promise them that I will be focused in my quest to improve the lives of our people and will continue to allow myself to be used as a vessel by God to free all of us from the yoke of slavery.
We will hold more interactive meetings soon. God bless you all.
