Today, representatives of the National Programme Coordinating Unit (NPCU) paid a courtesy call to Mr. Steve Kilonzo – Officer in charge of Revival and Marketing of Coffee in Machakos county. This was before the team proceeded to the ground to verify what the participating projects are doing under the revitalization program.
NPCU made up of the State Department of Cooperatives, the National Panel of Experts, and Coffee Research Institute (CRI) among other representatives received a brief from Mr. Kilonzo on the state of the three cooperatives from Kathiani, Kangundo, and Matungulu, currently taking part in the program.
Also, the team had the privilege of meeting H.E. Eng. Francis Maliti – Machakos Deputy governor, who lauded them for their great role in promoting coffee farming and production in the county.
Coffee farming remains a very crucial activity in our country’s economy. This said today’s engagement comes at a time when the County government of Machakos continues to undertake significant operations to boost coffee production in the region.
