Governor's Office|

Education remains the single and most important path of personal development and success, and is why today in Matungulu sub county I launched Ksh36 million county-wide bursary fund to cater for needy and deserving children in Machakos county.
I handed over cheques to head teachers from both Matungulu and Kangundo sub counties while the remaining cheques will be delivered to respective schools in other sub counties.
It should be noted that the exercise of identifying beneficiaries was conducted through a transparent process that brought together school principals and also vide public participation events which ensured that most deserving students benefit.
These bursaries are part of comprehensive measures that my government is undertaking to cushion parents who lost incomes due to the adverse socio- economic effects of Covid 19 and hence the need to keep their children in school.
My goal is to see to it that those children remain in school and achieve their God given dreams.
In the coming days, I will announce more economic recovery and re- engineering measures targeting the vulnerable as well as productive sectors of the local economy.
Our teachers, across the country, continue to do a commendable job of shaping destinies for learners to become meaningful members of our society- some of them becoming fellow teachers, doctors, engineers, pilots, pastors, and many other professionals. I want to urge the national government to put more money in the education sector so that we can, not only improve learning infrastructure, but also better teachers’ welfare.
